Since the very first Pintester Movement was such a grand success (and only inspired a few bowel movement jokes), I thought it was high time for another one! I’m changing it up a little bit this time to tighten up the theme and make things easier on me. Dude, that last one was fun, but talk about labor-intensive!
So, for this Pintester Movement, we’re going to try something new! Again, this is open to all bloggers, no matter which platform you’re on. (GoMighty works, too, or whatever you’ve got, as long as you can get a link to your post!)
For this Pintester Movement, I’m challenging all of you to try something I already tried on Pintester.com! Yeah, it’s a little self-serving, but let’s be honest, dudes. This is my blog… And, also, as of this posting, you have around 230 different tests to pick from. Here’s how it works:
1. Sign up for the Pintester Movement email list! If you don’t sign up for the list, you won’t be able to participate, so this part is super important. You’ll get an email from me with the instructions and requirements listed below and instructions for emailing me the link to your blog.
2. Pick any test from Pintester.com and do the test yourself! The vast majority of the posts have links to the original test where you can find the directions I worked from, and the other ones include the directions I found somewhere else, so you don’t just have to work from my post alone. Be sure to check the original.
3. Write up a blog post about the test! Your blog post must include:
- A link to the original blog where the test came from (which I have linked in my original post)– Any questions on that, you can email me.
- A link to the test on Pintester.com that you’re re-testing
- A link to the Pintester Movement category on my blog: http://pintester.com/category/pintester-movement/
4. DEADLINE: JULY 11, 2013 at 9:00 PM EASTERN TIME! I need your email in my inbox by then. (Instructions will be sent to you after you sign up for the email list.)
That’s it! Easy peasy. So go ahead and sign up for the email list and then get started on writing up your fantastic re-test! Remember, the point of this is not to be perfect. We strive for mediocrity around here, with a dash of funny if it suits you, so don’t feel pressure to perform, ok? No anxiety. I won’t have it.

I don’t have a crafting blog so I’m obviously not the target of this post, but I think the fun of the first post was that people felt encouraged to actually try things they’d had pinned for a while. Restricting the test to things that you’ve already tested for your own blog seems needlessly restrictive and un-fun. Also un-fun as a reader, last time I read 50 or 60 of the posts that people did, but I don’t really see the appeal of reading multiple posts testing the same thing. Just my two cents, the last challenge is actually what got me to subscribe to your blog, so I’m obviously a big fan of the concept of pintesting.
Sorry you’re not pleased with this, Jennifer, but this, as with all things on the blog, is a grand experiment. Just trying it out to see what works. If it fails spectacularly, well, I’m used to that. I’m not picky about whether you have a craft blog or not. Anyone with a blog (or a place to post) can participate. Feel free to join if you like, and if not, I totally understand.
I disagree. many readers of yhis blog complain when the pintester uses the wrong ingredients. This way, readers will find out if it can be successful.
I agree with Jennifer, nor am I a blogger. But I also don’t really understand why people would spend time to do something just because you said so. If you ask me it should be a competition, have a little incentive or something, Idk maybe I just dont get it
I like the idea. There are a lot of posts that would inspire me to try the pin for myself if I wasn’t so lazy. Like Sonja said, there are over 200 crafts from which to choose and I highly doubt there will be more than a couple of repeats. If there are 200 repeated posts about making a Dirty Girl Scout I’ll…I dunno. I want to say that I’d eat an actual girl scout but that seems a little over-dramatic. So I’ll stick with the good, old stand by, I’ll eat my hat.
Ugh, another BORING post which will lead to more boring posts, this “pintester movement” is un-fun as another comment stated. So it seems that since you started getting paid for this blog, you aren’t even blogging at all. Compare what you post now to the entertaining, honest, and funny posts from 6 months ago and tell me you don’t see a big difference. Please just change the name of your blog from Pintester to “advertisements and links to youtube videos”; since that’s all that is here anymore.
You must be really fun at parties.
I am the party.
Ana what’s the name of your Blog?
If you don’t like it, then don’t read it. When you leave comments like that, you come off as very snooty.
Wow guys, the intention of this is to get people involved and make it easier for Sonja than the last Pintester Movement. Don’t do it if you don’t want to, but don’t be a little bitch and ruin it for others. I am interested to try a pin that Sonja already did.
And Sonja, post your links and ads all that you want on your blog and make your money.
Wow, mean readers today.
I think this is a great idea since many of your test smudged on the directions. This gives those who said the reason it didn’t turn out is because you did it wrong a chance to prove their point.
Exactly! 🙂 I was thinking the same thing.
Can we do something from your cocknails videos ie. the cocktail or the manicure or both? I think that would be pretty cool.
Sure!
Im so glad its Friday here (Im in Australia!) so I can do this tonight 🙂
I’m excited! Of course I appreciate that there’s lots of alcohol related tests 🙂 I’m thinking a cocktail and then some baking one right after. Should be lots of fun!
Ack, ack, ack! I’m hoping I get my supplies before time runs out.
Oh crap – talk about a miss-read. I didn’t realise we had to do one of YOUR pins. Sonja, I much prefer picking my own from my own insane collection of crafty pins… and I think there’s a bit of a consensus towards that idea. Fortunately there’s a couple that you’ve done which intrigue me. And I have most of the bits for. I think… crap.
I want to do your drunken house tour. I know it’s not a pin but it looked like fun. Also i already do a lot of drinking around my house so i think i’d be pretty good at it.
Do it! I’d say that falls well within the guidelines. 🙂
Not sure what I want to do. I think half of the fun will be re reading some of your posts to find that diamond of a craft I can fail at. (Whether or not the pintester had a fail I am sure I will) or some that you have done that I’ve been to chicken or lazy to do….maybe I could tie scarves on my cats and have before and after pictures of the distruction of my well being.
Just imagining that made me laugh, Heather!
Love you Sonja ! I think it is a great idea 🙂 I think pins can turn out so different for so many reasons, and people can put their own spin on pins too. I loved the last Pintester Movement, and I am sure I will love this one too!
Would an open facebook album with comments work? I have a blog but it’s for my business…
I am stoked. There are several things you have tried that I also have pinned on various boards. Knowing that I am okay to fail at them gives me more confidence to try…..well that and wine, lots of wine.
