I’m testing out that mascara trick where you use baby powder to make your eyelashes longer and thicker (heh heh). Insert your own That’s What She Said jokes. There are a few opportunities herein. (If you can’t see the video, click here.)

I suspect you need to put the powder on before your mascara dries, so one eye, powder, then other eye and powder. That said, just buy thickening/lengthening mascara folks and save yourself powder getting into everything.

    Sounds like a lot of work to make something stand up tall and strong. And then you just have the whole mess all over your face and in your eyes and have to clean it up yourself…. No thanks (;

That sounded like a REALLY fun evening :O

LMAO….kudos for trying! Glad to see someone else misses with their mascara! This actually does work (if done correctly), maybe you needed to be drinking 😉 . Oooo…you need a new drink for this called “Mascara” with Black Vodka and whipped cream for the baby powder!!!

You are a hoot, it was better than going to the comedy club!

You’re the only person I’ve ever seen who does not drop her mouth open while applying mascara. Props.

I gave up on wearing mascara about 12 years ago. It just made my eyes itch so I tugged on my eyelashes all day. I can’t even begin to imagine how much worse it would be with scented baby powder on them too.

OMG! Why would you downvote me!? I can’t help it that mascara makes me OCD! =P

I totally read it as “There are a few opportunities heroin.”

At least you only made a big mess with baby powder… I can think of worse things that make a mess and go anywhere…

  • rebeccajo November 7, 2013 - 8:15 am Reply

Your lashes don’t need it anyways – they looked beautiful without the powder… which ever one that was. Couldn’t tell the difference 🙂 Feel better!

Very impressed that you can keep your mouth closed when you put on mascara…mine is open like a dog waiting for a treat…but I guess if you are dealing with the possibility of longer and thicker, until you actually see what you are dealing with, keeping the lips together is actually a good idea. 🙂

When you say ‘fuck’ closed caption says ‘cock.’ It’s really quite wonderful. I’d try to post an image but I don’t know how to do all of that fancy shit.

      Print screeeeeen.

    • cassie December 10, 2013 - 9:20 pm Reply

there’s a button on the upper right hand corner of your keyboard labelled PRTSC, which stands for print screen. it puts a picture of your screen in your cut buffer so you can paste it into Paint or whatever.

Baby powder gets EVERYwhere! Revlon has a mascara that comes with a primer on one end and your typical black mascara on the other end that probably accomplishes the same thing baby powder does. I usually don’t bother with the primer though, unless I’m really getting dressed up. It doesn’t make THAT much of a difference. I really just use it because it doesn’t smudge, flake or wipe off.

You made a big mess trying to make it thicker & longer…and you got shit in your eye? Um, you’re doing it wrong (that’s what she said). Seriously, you’re eyes are amazing. Even when they look all crazy.

With this (hilarious) video I was introduced to the wonders of YouTube captioning, and it was glorious. “Miquelin baby powder men who wear mascrara” and “claude-pierre has some white spots in it so I’m carless” were my favourites 😀

Baby powder eyelashes = Premature gray in yet another place I don’t want it.

Sometimes I feel like Pinterest pins are like the fake advice in the Fight Club movie – “gasoline is a great fertilizer” and “recycle your pets” come to mind.

Don’t hate on me but I actually have crazy long eyelashes. But they are blond – like that really annoying blond eyelashes thing where they are way too fair. I REALLY want someone to invent some mascara that doesn’t make your eyelashes longer or thicker but just makes them dark. I am sick of clumps, lumps, and blobs. But I never leave the house without mascara because they are too pale.

my friend also has this problem, but she figured out the best solution. if you go to your hairdresser, mostly likely they will offer a service of dying your eyelashes. it isn’t harmful, just helpful. all it does is make your eyelashes the color and darkness you want. it’s amazing! I hope you try it because it is wonderful.

      • ChickieD May 28, 2014 - 4:43 pm Reply

Thanks for the suggestion. I’ve asked hairdressers about this and in most states it’s illegal. I guess it can irritate your eyes. To me it sounds perfect. I did find a little bottle of tint sold on some “household solutions” type of website that I thought I might try out.

Your eyelashes already looked awesome with the regular mascara. Lucky girl! No need for baby powder here.

  • Heidi December 22, 2013 - 1:13 am Reply

better to look downward when applying mascara!

  • Natasha April 17, 2014 - 5:37 pm Reply

I will use a makeup brush and put a loose translucent powder on my lashes before I apply mascara. I think it helps to absorb any oils and make my mascara more waterproof, maybe a little fuller looking, but not much.
