This morning was my Good Morning America segment! If you missed it (like just about everyone in my local area did because North Carolina was covering “winter weather” by following a school bus around with a camera and reporting that “nothing has happened yet”), here ya go:

Know what the cool thing is? I think they must have liked me because they invited me to come back Friday! I don’t have details, but I imagine it will be in around the same time slot (8:30-9) and I’ll post a clip again if there ends up being one, for sure.

So, funny stories from the morning:
Story 1: My New Friend Gwen
Gwyneth Paltrow was the celebrity guest this morning. Yes, I saw her, sort-of close up. She walked past me. If I’d been a little closer, I could have smelled her. You know, not that I would have or anything because that’s creepy and I’m not creepy. No. No sir. Not me. Also, there’s proof (paltry, but still) that she watched my segment at 3:56 in this clip:

Gwyneth. Gwyn. Goop. If you’re watching, I love ya, babe. Call me. I’ll hook you up with the Pintestes. We are fun. Welcome. We can test some organic shit together and borrow each other’s shoes. (Yours are fab. Mine are mostly not-too-smelly.) It’ll be great.
Story 2: Hair Don’ts
When I went to get my hairs did (because they do your hair and make-up for the show, even if you’re an out-of-town schmo like me who’s only on for like a minute), the really sweet hairdresser told me she was just going to blow-dry it a little for me, but then she asked me if I had oil in my hair, and I had to answer truthfully that yes I did because the guy at the salon sold me some kind of way-too-expensive styling oil that he said I should use. Apparently this is not the case, because she had to curl my hair just so it wouldn’t look stringy and gross and oily on TV. Siiigh. (The lesson here is do not be a pushover about hair products, I guess.)
Story 3: Post Nerves
People have been telling me I looked so not-nervous, but let me admit to you here that as soon as the cameras turned off, I started shaking and almost cried. I guess getting nervous afterwards is better than before, so I’ll take it.
Anyway, don’t forget to tune in Friday! I’m going to spend my spare day in New York City finding cool things to see and trying not to freeze to death. Check out my Instagram for some fun touristy shots. I already took one of me and Sven the reindeer hanging out in Times Square.
Thank you, thank you so much to everyone who watched live and who watched the clip and who sent me such sweet messages of support, and big thanks to my husband, who flew to New York with me just to watch my tiny segment in person, and to my NYC-local brother and his partner for braving Times Square and the cold to come to the studio, too!
Hope you’ll tune in again on Friday!
