Ok so I live in Sweden and you can get crock pots here but you have to really search them out and they are like over a hundred bucks, in England though they can buy them on amazon.co.uk for like a normal price you would in the US.

Well, I’ve lived in the US for a year so I am familiar with the whole crockpot fascination but in Germany, we don’t really have them. Concerning the cheap ass meat we buy at the grocers – freeze it or fry it or put in in the oven… but I have to admit crock pots save a lot of time. Cooking here usually means that you have to stand next to what you cook and stir, season, add ingredients, watch out that you don’t set the house on fire and so on… 🙂

Love reading the comments.  Thank you Franziska and Hemborgwife.  I had no clue that a crockpot wasn’t a normal thing.!
This was the highlight of my day.  Thank you so much Pintester!

I didn’t realize that crockpots were an American thing until this year. My British roommate thought I was trying to kill her by putting raw chicken in a crockpot for 6 hours. To be fair, it was an untried recipe that tasted like poison. So, not a bad conclusion.

So, I think what we all really want to know know is, do you attribute your regular morning pooping to frequent use of the crockpot? Or did you get yourself a squatty potty?

I think what we all really want to know now is… do you attribute your wonderfully regular morning poop schedule to frequent use of the crockpot? Or did you get yourself a squatty potty?

I live in Canada and we have crock pots here. Have always had them here. We call them slow cookers though (crock pot is just a brand, kind of like kleenex). Can’t believe that some people go through life not knowing what a crock pot/slow cooker is!!!

    • Kentagern November 13, 2012 - 1:41 pm Reply

temberly84 yes! They are called Slow Cookers in the UK as well, not Crock Pots

    • CaitlinCrane November 13, 2012 - 8:16 pm Reply

temberly84 I live in the US and I’ve heard both slow cooker and crock pot. I prefer saying slow cooker.

    • aMUSEme8 November 19, 2012 - 9:37 am Reply

Crock Pot is the brand name. Slow cooker is what it actually is/does. We call them Crock Pot in the US because that is the original maker name of the slow cooker. And people would probably get really confused if we walked around saying Hamilton Beach (another big name slow cooker manufacturer) lol It’s all the same though

aMUSEme8 It’s similar to the British using the term “Hoover” and “hoovering” for vacuum and vacuuming.

        • aMUSEme8 November 20, 2012 - 12:37 pm Reply

I do not think I have heard those terms before, even from the few british people I have met lol. If that’s the case then I Bissel and Eureka! Although if I started saying that now my husband would think I was going crazy (or mad since the subject matter is spelling out the British/American differences 😉 ) lol

You’re one of my new favorite people.  And I’m sorry that someone asked about your bowel movements.  They must have serious issues.  Or maybe they’re a doctor.

I totally expected you to have a Tom Collins in your hand at the end of the video, not crackers. Call me disappointed.

pharmd2012 I also had pimento cheese. I thought I’d stick with the theme.

Highlight of my morning (as usual)!  They have crockpots (also called slow cookers) here in China.  It did take some searching – they had a lot more rice cookers than crockpots.  🙂

I am concerned that your knife block is precariously balanced on the corner of your countertop. What if you dog bumps it and ends up getting stabbed?
