It’s been a rainy and cold few days here, but I am so not ready for summer to end, so I decided to test a summer pin, because I am #upforwhatever, even if the weather is not cooperating. Check out this watermelon smoothie that you make with a watermelon, a wire hanger, and a drill. (Not even kidding.)
While attempting to make a watermelon smoothie of my own, I decided to also try a Bud Light Lime. I’m not much of a beer drinker in general, but Bud Light Lime is kind of nice for a summer project– it’s a beer with a refreshing twist of lime flavor. (It also comes in these sleek new cans, but hey, I’m into the bottles.)
So, besides the beer, you need a drill, some coat hangers, and a watermelon, preferably seedless. (You’ll see why.) If you’re wondering, you can indeed buy wire hangers at the grocery store. I don’t know why, except maybe for this exact purpose.
The first step is to drill a hole in the watermelon.
Next, you should pause to admire your work and drink some more Lime. After all, you have completed step 1 successfully and now there’s the added bonus of other members of your household discovering watermelon all over the drill bit and wondering what the hell happened.
The next step requires wire cutters, so maybe slow your roll on the Bud Light Lime for a second. Once you have the hanger cut, you put it in the drill like a drill bit.
It looks scary, but I guess it’s kind of meant to. I mean, we’re going to willingly destroy the innards of a watermelon with it. Maybe.
Guys, I really gave this one my all. Seriously. I put down my beer and made Serious Face. But about 15 seconds into the process of muddling the insides of my poor, innocent watermelon, it decided to fight back. The drill kicked like a bronco and I almost dropped the thing, and here’s what it looked like when I took it out of the watermelon.
Watermelon: 1. Pintester: 0. I decided that even though the video said 30 seconds was the appropriate amount of time, 15 seconds had to be good for something, and I didn’t really feel like fixing my hanger drill contraption.
So I cut a hole/spout in the watermelon and turned it over into a glass. Sigh. I can’t spin this any other way than fail, guys. My consolation prize? At least I still had a beer to drink, because the watermelon smoothie was not to be.
This summer, Bud Light Lime is bringing you the flavorful, refreshing twist of lime that will keep you ready for spontaneous fun all summer long. And now, the perfect beer for whatever happens invites you to click here to prove that you’re #upforwhatever.

I think a real wire coat hanger would work better. Those coated wired ones are too soft and easily bent.
That’s what she said! HEHEHE
I think you needed a Bigger Hole initially! He said the size of a dime. Also, yes I said “Bigger Hole” teehee
Wow how much did bud light lime pay you for that plug?? Sell out.
Maybe you should tell me how much money YOU make before I answer that question… Also: http://pintester.com/oh-you-dont-like-it/
I ❤️ this reply so hard.
It’s so in your face advertising, that’s the issue. I thought Pintester was better than that. Complete turned off to this page. Don’t bother with a reply I won’t be back.
Good riddance.
Better than what, exactly? She’s trying to get paid, and she probably got paid pretty well for this one. I doubt she was every trying to be better than anything, whatever that phantom thing was in your head. Oh, fun thing about Disqus, you don’t have to come back to the site for a response, it’ll show up in your Disqus feed, so yeah…have fun with that stick up your ass.
Don’t sit there for a second and act like you wouldn’t plug anything for some extra cash.
Of course it’s in your face! She stated at the top that the post is sponsored by Bud Light Lime. She gets PAID for putting her crazy ass stuff on the web – what a dream job!!! AND a multi-billion dollar company is paying her to tout their drink … stupid AND jealous much, kcar?
So they’re paying you to drink beer? That’s awesome! I hope other companies pay you to drink whilst you pintest. 🙂
Well, the hole was supposed to be cut (with a knife) the size of a dime. And an actual wire hanger would have worked better. I’ve done this before and it worked perfectly and with some vodka added it’s great!
This just seems fraught with peril.
I think you do it wrong intentionally..
