DIY Draped Skirt

I am not fashionable. I am not cute. I will never be either of those things. And yet… And yet… Guys, Pinterest is aspirational by nature, and so am I, turns out, because I saw this and thought I should definitely try it.

Ok, yeah, I didn’t have stretchy t-shirt material. And my piece of fabric was not long enough (especially considering how much bigger my butt is than hers). But really I was not aspirational enough to go buy a long piece of stretchy t-shirt material just to try to make a skirt out of it that might turn out looking like crumpled ass.

Instead of telling this story in words, I shall tell it in pictures… (I should tell you, though, that I don’t normally wear fuzzy owl pants and giant t-shirts with no bra in public, so I understand that this is going to look less cute than the tutorial by default, but I shall defend my stance by saying there was no way in hell I was going pantsless for a blog photoshoot.)

draped skirt step 1

draped skirt step 2

draped skirt step 3

draped skirt step 4

draped skirt butt shot

draped skirt finished

Umm… Tada? Not exactly the result I was hoping for, fuzzy pants and giant t-shirts aside. Will I ever be cute? Well, I have my moments (although not this one). Will I ever be fashionable? Definitely nope.

First of all, you are cute. Second of all, you are way funny and everyone knows that last way longer than cute. Keep kickin ass.

No, hon. No comparing yourself to some skinny heifer that a good bout of flu could take out. (She’d starve to death. Nothing in reserve for when she can’t eat. Not that she looks like much of an eater anyway.) you have curves. You have hips. You have an ass that isn’t concave. (I’ve noticed a disturbing amount of concave asses integer white population. Makes you wonder if they have an easier time wiping or if they can’t find the crack to wipe it.) anyway… Hips, curves, ass, and BOOBS! All the things guys like and women verbally attack when they feel threatened by you. Work it, girl!

Y’know, female empowerment and loving your body is awesome. But don’t bring down other girls in the process. Not everyone tries to be skinny. It just happens naturally for some girls, and it’s not fair to insult them in order to make those of us with a bit more on us feel better. They didn’t choose the body they were given, just like us big boobed, big assed girls didn’t choose ours either.

I totally own those same fuzzy owl pants. Fashionable? Nope. Comfortable as hell when it’s 20 below outside? Hells yes.

body shape aside, I just don’t like the look of the wrap twist skirt thing. A- it goes up in the butt crack area, and what woman on the planet needs LESS coverage there? Skirts are short enough as it is anymore anyways. B- it simply doesn’t look like an appealing design for me, as having a lumpy knot over my crotch gives me the impression that sitting down would be a wee bit uncomfortable.

I want to throw a sandwich at the chick in the other pics, mostly cause food fights always look like fun in the movies!
If you ever find a successful way to wear a sarong PLEASE post it. I have lots of them but can’t figure out how to make them look cute.

Man do I love all you do! Its nice to not be the only one who walks into any situation armed with a bit of sarcasm and a ten pound bag of salt! I attempted a T-shirt dress thing a friend of mine was thinking of using as bridesmaids dresses. I grabbed an XXL t shirt out of my closet, then proceeded to get myself stuck in the neckline. Had to cut myself out of it! Now I don’t feel so silly for trying.

LoL!!! Nailed it, that’s fucking hilarious. I get inspired too. Then I try it and then I realize the pin wasn’t meant for ME. That shit sets me up for failure every. Time.
